Named after Saint Anthony of Padua and located along the Texas Triangle, San Antonio is home to more than one million inhabitants and boasts a plethora of attractions and activities for visitors. Once populated by Payaya Indians until it was discovered by a group of Spanish Catholic missionaries who renamed the region after the Franciscan Monk due to their discovery occurring on his birthday. The city enjoys a humid subtropical climate with hot sunny days in the summer months and relatively mild warm winters.
The region is also renowned for its memorable landmarks and attractions. Until 1996, the San Antonio Observation Tower was the tallest building in the US Built in 1968, the tower is still the city's tallest building and offers from its summit a panoramic view of the city. The tower also houses a revolving restaurant at its peak, where diners can marvel at the surrounding area. The Texas Folklife Festival is hosted in June and the event celebrates the diversity of the area. More than 40 ethnic groups participate in the event with song, dance, crafts and fabulous cuisine. The venue for the event is the Institute of Texan Cultures.

San Antonio Observation Tower was built in 1968 and until 1996 was the tallest skyscraper in America. The observation room at the summit of the tower contains more than 30 LCD TVs, which span a 360-degree radius of the city. Observers can also dine in the revolving restaurant and enjoy views of the region while they dine.
Visit Seaworld, spanning more than 250 acres, the park offers four separate and individual parks, rides and shows. Many of the rides are of the white-knuckle variety and the many shows feature dolphins, sharks and other aquatic life.
Dine at Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery. The impressive menu offers a range of both Texan and Spanish cuisine. Sample the wood-fried pretzel or the oxtail pie while enjoying one of the many hearty beers brewed on the premises.

The Texas Folklife Festival. The Texas Folklife Festival is hosted at The Institute for Texan Cultures and is held in June. The event spans three days and brings together more than 40 different cultures to celebrate the city's diversity. The event features song, dance, competitions, workshops and fantastic cuisine.
The Fiesta Noche Del Rio. The Fiesta Noche Del Rio is hosted in August and spans two evenings. The event is a celebration of Latin-American culture and features parades, song and dance.
The Armed Forces River Parade. Held every May in honour of the armed forces, the event features beautifully decorated floats which sail down the River walk. Each float represents a specific theme, Veterans of past and recent conflicts and their support groups.
