This city, the capital of the Lower Silesian region of Poland has its own unique and appealing character, a character that charms everyone who visits. Its architectural style has absorbed influences from Prussia, Bohemia and Austria. This can be seen to good effect in city squares such as Rynek. Relax with a coffee here while street artists entertain you.
Wroclaw has a fascinating selection of museums with collections covering everything from ancient art and artefacts to detailed miniature railways and the world of water. Founded in the 10th century this ancient city spreads either side of the River Odra. This is crossed by 130 bridges while its riverside banks and little islands provide tranquil spaces to escape the city bustle. As well as its historic heart and architectural heritage, Wroclaw also has a lively cultural life and a varied calendar of festivals and events.
This is a pedestrian-friendly city with an easy to follow grid pattern which makes exploring a pleasure. Start in the Old Town where you'll find beautiful historic buildings and world-class museums.
A city hub
Rynek or Market Square is where it's all happening in the city, with colourful historic buildings, shops, creative street entertainers, cafes, restaurants and a few of the city's iconic dwarves. These humorous little statues are dotted across the city so keep your eyes peeled for them.
Take a trip in miniature
The Kolejkowo - Wonderful World in Miniature is Poland's largest railway model and can be found at the city's Świebodzki Station. It is a faithful recreation of the Lower Silesia region with hundreds of metres of tracks, dozens of trains and over a thousand realistic features.

Hydropolis is a unique and ultra-modern museum and educational centre. Its huge exhibition space is dedicated to water and features over 70 interactive installations covering eight themed areas that focus on the world's main bodies of water.
