As the largest Island in the Calamian group in the Philippines' Palawan province, Busuanga is an extremely popular place for visitors and is something of a paradise with its beaches, soft landscapes, good walking trails and great diving. The Island is easily accessible from Manilla and is divided into two areas, Busuanga with the airport and Coron, the largest major tourism hub of the region.
Coron is cocooned on the southern edge of the Island and is the place where visitors are most likely to stay and take the many tours on offer. Coron serves as a hub for island hopping and visiting the surrounding destinations, including Coron Island, Culion, Linapacan and El Nido. Wreck diving is a major attraction, numerous Japanese ships lie under the sea and even snorkellers can see the prominent Skeleton Wreck. Therefore, amateur and more experienced divers can enjoy diving off Busuanga. Nearby Coron Island features the magnificent Kayangan and Barracuda lakes, which are places of beauty, fresh air and relaxation. Other outdoor activities visitors can enjoy include snorkeling, horse riding, mountain biking and jungle trekking.
Festivals and celebrations are an important part of the Philipines culture the nearby Cebu Sinulog festival at the end of January has with street dancing and elaborate costumes. A little further away on Palawan island, the Arawedan and Baragatan festivals attract visitors from all the Calamian islands.
