Cheap Flights to Kuala Lumpur

The capital city of Malaysia and known as the Klang Valley due to being founded where the Klang and Gombak Rivers intersect, Kuala Lumpur is a modern metropolis with an intriguing British-Colonial past. The city is home to almost two million inhabitants and is renowned for its skyline dominated by skyscrapers. The site of the tallest twin towers in the world, known as the Petronas Twin Towers, is located in the city and is symbolic of the region's rapid expansion and development. The city is also hailed for its plethora of interesting attractions and visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to fine restaurants, fantastic shopping and unspoilt beaches.

Records indicate that Kuala Lumpur was not established as a town until 1857, when Raja Abdullah bin Raja Jaafar, the Malay Chief of Klang, hired Chinese miners from Lukut to establish tin mines. Due to the city's diverse religious and cultural heritage, an array of festivals occurs each year. Visit in January when the Chinese New Year Festival is hosted as this is one of the most important events of the year in the Chinese calendar and festival goers are entertained by spectacular parades, where participants dress in traditional Chinese costume. The event spans fourteen days and celebrates the first day of the Lunar calendar.
