Visa Application to Visit Indonesia

Visa on Arrival

Australian citizens are allowed to apply for visa on arrival to visit Indonesia for up to 30 days.

What about more extended stays in Indonesia?

Apply for a single entry visa for a one-time entry to Indonesia. This visa is a 60-day permit and can be extended for another 60 days at the immigration office in Indonesia. This visa will cost AUD 220 and can be paid at the Indonesian Consulate in Australia. Read more about the requirements for the single entry visa.

What about digital nomads?

Currently, there is no visa specifically for aspiring digital nomads to enter Indonesia. However, the visa on arrival and the single entry visa are suitable for the business-related purposes of the visit, including making content of how good living in Bali is. Currency or Payments

  • Indonesia uses the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) with cash and coins.
  • The Indonesia Central Bank established a local card network called GPN, which is used nationally.
  • VISA and Mastercard are mostly acceptable. On the other hand, Apple Pay is not available in Indonesia.
  • Most places accept cash and digital payments via card or digital wallet. The most popular digital wallets are OVO, Dana, GoPay, ShopeePay, and LinkAja. All you need to have to activate the digital wallet is an Indonesian phone number.
  • Digital wallets can be topped up through direct debit from local banks or the mini markets.

Transportation in Indonesia

Travelling in Indonesia is very convenient once you know the tricks. Private transportation is more common in Indonesia unless you stay in bigger cities like Jakarta and Surabaya. Here are the things you need to know to travel with ease in Indonesia:

  • If you rent a car or bike without a driver, be prepared to drive cautiously. Indonesia is the fourth most populated country, especially in Java and Bali, the study, business, and tourism centre.
  • Buy yourself an e-Money or TapCash card to pay for public transport, parking tickets, toll gates, and retail merchants (Pertamina gas station, Alfamart, and Indomart).
  • Follow the traffic rules, including wearing a bike helmet and footwear covering your toes.
  • Download local online transportation services apps, such as Gojek, Grab, or Bluebird, to travel around with the best drivers in the area.

Connect with the Australian Government

Australia has one embassy in Jakarta and three Consulate-general in Bali, Makassar, and Surabaya. Find the Australian Embassy contact information.

Eating Out

Indonesia is always full of places to pick to experience authentic Indonesian meals. From small eating places, popular as warung, to elevated fine dining, rest assured that you will find warm and hearty meals to fill both stomach and heart. Here are some things you need to consider before you eat out:

  • Almost all food stalls accept digital payment, even tiny, crowded places if you are in a big city. However, bring 50,000 IDR just in case, and you should be fine.
  • If being a homebody is today's mood, order your food online through GoFood, GrabFood, or ShopeeFood. Almost all restaurants, even the tiny warung or wartegs, are available on these platforms.
  • Unfamiliar stomach may not be able to bear the heat of Indonesian spiciness. Be aware of this and always have your medicines or other relieves.
  • Maintain your hygiene by washing your hands before and after your meal, don't drink from tap water, and watch out for what you eat.

Having a disastrous trip because of such things would be the last thing anybody would want. We hope these informations will ease your mind during your trip to Indonesia. Secure your tickets now to Indonesia with BudgetAir Australia✈️.
