Cheap Flights To Bordeaux

Located in southwestern France, the beautiful city of Bordeaux is world renowned as the wine industry capital. With stunning architecture, gourmet restaurants and a fascinating historic heritage, Bordeaux offers visitors plenty to enjoy in addition to the appreciation of fine wine.

Following a massive restoration project, hundreds of magnificent 18th-century buildings within the city have undergone makeovers to be restored to their former beauty. As a result, half of the city, including all of the historic part, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site -- so lovers of history and architecture can expect a real treat here.

The riverfront, once a less desirable part of the city, was also transformed, with upmarket bars, shops and restaurants now located here. The Miroir d'eau, a magical water feature next to the river, adds even more charm and appeal to an already not-to-be-missed sight: the Place de la Bourse. The popular Dansons sur les Quais, a free dance festival, also takes place in a riverside setting.

Find a cheap flight to Bordeaux so you can explore this vibrant French city for yourself.

Things To Do

As if there wasn't enough to keep you entertained in the city, Bordeaux is also perfectly positioned for day trips to vineyards and seaside locations such as Arcachon, famed for its delicious, fresh oysters.

  • For wine connoisseurs
Housed in a spectacular glass building, the Cite du Vin wine museum celebrates the history and cultivation of wines from around the world. Enjoy the interactive exhibits and videos before heading to the top floor for wine tasting and stunning panoramic city views.

  • A must-see attraction
Located near the river, the beautiful Place de la Bourse symbolises Bordeaux. Stunning buildings wrap around three sides of the square, while the Miroir d'eau, a stunning water feature, reflects the gorgeous architecture, adding a magical element.

  • A great option for Sunday
Along the riverside, the Marche des Quais is a great way to spend a few hours on Sunday, where you can stroll between the stalls of an authentic French market and enjoy gorgeous, fresh food, including seafood, as well as, of course, wine.

Calendar Of Events

Plenty of varied events take place in Bordeaux and the surrounding region throughout the year, so there is ample choice, regardless of the time you visit.

  • Les Epicuriales: In May or June, the Allées-de-Tourney is transformed into a foodie heaven. More than a dozen pop-up restaurants specialising in different cuisines are set up so that guests can walk between each one watching cooking classes and sampling food prepared by Michelin-starred chefs.

  • Dansons sur les Quais: Over five weeks in July and August, this popular and free event enables crowds of people to learn to dance a range of different styles. Classes are taught by teachers who enthusiastically share their knowledge and passion for their particular style of dance.

  • Médoc Marathon: Every September visitors and locals take part in a marathon with a difference, with most runners in costume as they wind their way through vineyards. Along the course, food and wine tastings as well as musical entertainment add to the festive atmosphere.
