Yàlóng Bay is the city's luxury resort with a classy beach, expensive hotels and plush restaurants. With many cultures in one place, the city hosts colourful and fun festivals throughout the year. Longtaitou Jie, also known as 'The Dragon Head Raising Festival', takes place in spring. Sanyuesan features dancing and singing, while the Dragon Boat Festival is an opportunity to watch the fascinating art of dragon boat racing.

Visitors to Sanya are in for a treat when it comes to festivals with singing, dancing, music and good food all being a part of traditional and cultural events throughout the year.

• Longtaitou Jie: Known as 'The Dragon Head Raising Festival', this event celebrates the beginning of spring and takes place on the second day of the second lunar month. People pray for peace, fair weather and rich harvests.

• Sanyuesan: A traditional Chinese festival, Sanyuesan takes place on the third day of the third lunar month and entertains with traditional Li and Miao dances, songs and music.

• Dragon Boat Festival: The Dragon Boat festival marks a national holiday and is held on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month marking the death of Qu Yuan, a poet and statesman. Celebrations include food, drink and dragon boat races!
