10 Instagram Worthy Cafes in Seoul
Ah… Seoul, Korea! We can’t get enough of it. The gorgeous tree-lined shopping streets, the multi-coloured desserts and quaint little coffee shops just leave you wanting more! Here are our top 10 picks for cafes in Seoul where you can spend a picture-perfect afternoon with your girlfriends.
1. Electric Sheep 일렉트릭 쉽
The ‘Dream of Electric Sheep’ neon sign hanging above the coffee counter is no doubt a nod to the Sci-fi movie classic Blade Runner, and the minimalistic, whitewashed interior of this cafe seems to pay homage to that futuristic vibe. Enjoy a cup of Vienna coffee or its popular affogato with a backdrop of luscious greenery from the Gyeongui Line Forest Park outside. Don’t forget to snap a few photos of those blush pink cup sleeves with their signature gold sheep stamps!

2. Magnstudio 메그엔스튜디오커피
Famous for its iconic pink staircase and delicious Vienna coffee, Magnstudio is a neighbourhood cafe that has become an instagram favourite. Run by a fashion advertising agency, the interior is unconventional, doing away with chairs and instead laying floor cushions in a circle around a pink chandelier like a cosy “campfire”. The popular items on the menu (also pink!) are the pink cream Vienna coffee and cotton candy latte. Pour the milk tea onto the cotton candy and watch it dissolve into a lovely sweet concoction!
Address: 36, Geumhosan-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Nearest Subway: Singeumho Station (Line 5, Exit 3)
Opening Hours: 930AM-1030PM, Closed on Mondays
3. Stylenanda Pink Pool Cafe 스타일난다 핑크풀카페
The Stylenanda Pink Pool Cafe lets you indulge in cotton candy desserts and sodas while lazing on giant cushions on the roof of the Stylenanda Pink Hotel, which isn’t a hotel by the way, but a five-storey cosmetics and apparel playground. From its golden elevator to the flower-filled bathtub, every floor in this quirky store is picture-worthy and its cafe is no exception. If the roof terrace isn’t your cup of tea, opt for the 5th floor cafe instead surrounded by neon lights, pool chairs and ceramic tiles like that of a 1950s American pool-diner.

4. Zapangi 망원동 자판기 카페
If you’ve always wanted to have an “open sesame” moment, this cafe in Mangwon-dong is for you. Zapangi means “vending machine” in Korean and to get into the cafe, you need to pull open a door shaped like a vending machine. Pretty neat huh? It’s not surprising that many people would want to snap a photo with it. During peak hours, you’ll have to wait in line to do so. The door isn’t the only draw though, be sure to try their fruity tin can desserts and cork bottle beverages.

5. Cafe Mula 카페뮬라
Stepping into this cafe cum yoga apparel store (Mulawear) is like stepping into a two-storey greenhouse adorned with marble and gold furnishings. Looking like it came straight out of a magazine spread, Cafe Mula’s clientele is as stylish as its Scandinavian minimalistic interior. It’s no wonder that this is one of Korean lifestyle instagrammers’ go-to cafes in the city. One of the must-tries is its Green Tea King Size Tiramisu topped with seasonal fruit! The entrance is not that obvious, hidden along a small lane off the main road, and is quite far in, so keep your eyes peeled for the white ‘mula’ sign.

Next to it is an arched doorway, which leads into a quaint eatery decorated with an eclectic mix of wooden and garden furniture, and dotted with cacti and exotic blooms. They serve brunch items here, but most find the beautiful desserts and creative coffees the real draw, not to mention appearing super nice in photos! The hottest thing on their menu is their cheesecake that’s made up of a light lemon-flavoured cream cheese, coated with cocoa butter and air-brushed yellow to make it resemble swiss cheese from a Tom and Jerry cartoon.
