Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany is served by Hamburg Airport or Hamburg Fuhlsbuttel Airport. The airport is situated 8km (5 miles) north of Hamburg. The airport has two terminals. Both the Terminals are linked by a free shuttle bus service which takes approximately 5-10 minutes and runs every 10-20 minutes between the Terminals. Hamburg Airport is connected to the city by the S-Bahn S1 commuter train line, which connects to the main station (Hauptbahnhof) and the city center in about 30 minutes. There are taxi services outside the terminals, which help passengers to get into the city within 20-30 minutes. Airport Coach, shuttle buses and Buses stand outside the terminal and help travellers to get into the city without any hassle. There is also a local bus service to the city running outside the terminal every 10 minutes. There are a plenty of limousines and car rental agencies providing cars at affordable price for tourists to get into the city.
Outside the terminal there are 3 bus stops namely A, B and C. where you can find different airport buses heading towards the city centre and different places of the city. There is a Jasper airport coach that runs non-stop from bus stop B at the airport to the Hauptbahnhof/Central Railway station on Kirchenallee in the city. Buses leave the airport once every 10-15 minutes to the city. There are local buses like metro bus and express bus that help tourists get into the city.
Passengers willing to have a limo ride can opt for the limousines by doing a pre-booking before arriving at the airport. A number of local agencies offer this service and there is a car rental booth located within the airport terminal. Services are available even on hourly basis.
A Super Shuttle bus serves the passengers from all the Airports to the city. These shuttle buses have door to door service for all the passengers. Shuttle buses depart from the lower level, right outside the door to baggage claim. Once you have boarded the shuttle, it is required to depart within 5 minutes.
Taxi services to central Hamburg are readily available outside the terminals. A door-to-door shuttle taxi service is offered by Travel Porter to destinations within Hamburg and further afield. Taxi stands are located on the arrival level in front of each terminal. The journey from the airport to the city centre approximately takes 20-30 minutes.
